Yeah, that is true. I mean if they even compared it on a realistic scale, that means the angels and even Zeno's power would be able to be mapped out.
Agreed, there should have been more to it, and each level should have been more of a "wow" factor than it turned out to be, making them seem less like a proper incremental step up, and more like just a new story device to push things along. Needs to be better thought out, that's for sure...it's losing all mystique completely, but if they slow it down again and spread the story out, then we'll be back to people complaining about it taking forever to develop plots again. So...lose-lose?
I don't care about it being dragged out when it pertains to things like Goku going Super Saiyan for the first time. The build-up to it took long but the payoff was amazing. I remember the first time I watched it. I couldn't even sleep that night. I miss that feeling. Being that invested.
Agreed, I had that exact same experience the first time I watched it. It was such a huge deal, and such a big moment that the buildup was worth it. It changed everything, and it was an unbelievable moment in the series. The last time any transformation felt like that was Gohan's SSJ2, honestly. SSJ4 was a decent payoff, too, but GT was so poor that it somewhat overwrote itself...so really, other than those...it's just sort of "oh look, another transformation."
I wish they can go back to that and make it that big of a deal but I don't think they can, sadly.
The unfortunate reality of stacking far too many transformations and soap-opera level twists into each saga as they moved forward. Now people just expect another level with each arc and that's a bit sad, because they're not well thought out like they used to be. SSJ was like god tier at first, and then it became a childrens' play toy, now it's the same with god level powers.
Probably no good point to reveal it, anyway. If they did, they'd be trapped in those constraints and they didn't stay consistent with power levels to begin with, anyway.
It absolutely was rushed. They probably felt they needed to do so in order to hold the attention spans of today's younger folks.
Definitely a great payoff and was unexpected (to me, at least). Before Dragon Ball Z, I had never seen a moment like that.
This is a good point. It is geared more at kids instead of teens and adults like Z was. I mean that fan base knows what a built up is and what it can lead to, kids get bored easily.
Granted...the 3-episode-long staring contests were absurd in DBZ...so I'm glad those were somewhat done away with.
