Dragon Ball Super Positives Super Has Over GT

I've noticed a ton of hate on Super over the 2010s. I decided to create a thread comparing the positives it has over GT for example, since that used to get a ton of hate in the 2000s, as well.

Anyway, Super at least has a Manga version, it would be cool to see GT have a Manga as well but that will never happen. I notice that Super has a far superior dub too, I can only watch GT in subtitles. The dub of GT has so many bad lines it makes the early Funimation dub of DBZ and the late Ocean dub of DBZ look like works of art.

Are there any positives you can think of?

GT has good things about it that were poorly executed. I would say that Super executed what was presented a lot better but both felt equally rushed at times.

As for positives, there was far more character development and engaging characters in Super. The expansion of universes opened up the story more rather than just recreated an old world for the sake of plot building. Beerus is a major plus but I am biassed about that one.

Yeah the world building and lore was definitely done a lot better in Super... Even if Goku, Pan, and Trunks are traveling the universe in the Black Star Dragon Ball Saga... LOL.

I wanted it to be Goku, Trunks, and Goten personally. Goten didn't get enough love. He was just a horny teenager. That was it.

Child Goku grew on me after a while. Pan annoyed me. Oob might have been good but who knows what kind of character he would have been. They might have written him poorly.

I'm with you on Pan, Pan became a really annoying character pretty quickly, as did angsty teen Trunks. Goku with basically anyone else could've made GT better. That or make Pan more worthwhile...she could've been good, but she became a scared child 90% of the time.

I didn't mind Pan but that's because I watched the Japanese sub of GT... LOL.

Definitely the better way to watch GT! If I never have to hear a whiny child say "Grandpa!" ever again...

I implore everyone to watch GT in Japanese. It's like a completely different show compared to the garbage Funimation piped out. Granted GT had it's plot and character problems. I hope if Pan gets adapted into Super, I'm sure she will at some point, that they change her character. No reason to be the damsel in distress/fuck up that Goku had to clean up after.

I think Masako did a video quite a while ago about watching GT. He recommended to skip quite a few episodes and the Super 17 arc all together because it's pointless to the overall story and poorly written.

I'm sure everyone remembers Pan knocking the shit out of White Tiger at the WMAT. Not sure why she was more bad ass then than when she was older in GT.

Granted I haven't seen GT in it's entirety so it's probably not entirely fair to comment on this but there's not much Super doesn't have over GT imo. I'd probably struggle to think of vie things GT does better than Super and some of them would feel backhanded. Like cool, GT has cooler concepts for story arcs but what does that amount to but missed potential when you don't execute them properly?

That is a really good point. Super did give Vegeta more development, but a lot even.

I like it because it's unique among the other transformations. It's well explained how the transformation was attained in lore and even though it's not a Toriyama creation, I really enjoy it's design.

I like the transformation process and the look. SS4 shouldn't look good with that color combo but it does. I think if Toriyama had a role in the development of the transformation and the story around it, it would have been better but that doesn't mean it is bad.
