We all struggle @Kid Goku, it's ok to have moments of weakness. Makes you human :)
Speaking of Weakness you know what ticks me off...

Not to put bad vibes out there, but has she had a memory test lately? Just saying...
I told her to get a cognitive test cause if her brain is going, she can get meds to stop it before it gets bad. That is what they did for my nana. It was too late for my grandpa. He got bad. I told her 3 times now but she has to be the one to do it. It doesn't help that she is getting worse with her narcissism. Like she mentioned she may have taken two of her pills by mistake and I told her that was dangerous and she needs to get one of those weekly pill things so she doesn't forget. Then she turned it around on me and said her memory is fine and it is all stress and then said "You just wait!" as in to imply my memory will be bad when I get to be her age. ffs....

I say things out of concern and get attacked over it.

How does one deal with a mother who is never wrong, keeps forgetting things but blames everyone else, and continuously acts like she is under attack for no reason?

She definitely needs the weekly pill thing, my mother has that, helps us so much.

I hate to say it, but...it sort of matches my mother at the start. I hope it's not, it's an awful thing to have, watching someone you love fade away into a shell of themselves. I'm hoping for the best, and I'm always here if you want to chat or you have questions. ❤️

I deal with that every single day.

In terms of a pill box; my sheets (blood pressure meds) are by day, so if I forget one it makes it hard to keep track of. I don't want to do the week thing, but if it came to it I'd definitely opt for it. Just swallow your pride, woman.

She has always been snippy, aggressive, and narcissistic but she seems like she is in denial of her own age too. It is just a lot of things being made worse by the fact that she is forgetting things now and blaming everyone and everything else. I was having a conversation on the phone with her the other day and in the middle of it, she started bringing up my aunt without any context and I don't even think she realized she did it and then got pissed at me over it. I know as people get older, memory isn't the same but between her stressing over every little thing, not sleeping good, and finding everything under the sun to complain about it is doing her no favors. She just don't want to listen to anything I have to say either when it comes to helping her. She still babies my brother too which drives me nuts cause he talks down to her and treats her like crap and won't help out with anything but I am public enemy number one. I joke with Jay that she likes him more than me but I really think she does at this point. lol

I really don't want it to be a cognitive issue cause I saw what happened to my grandpa but I know catching it earlier, a lot can be helped. My nana never got bad. She was forgetful but she knew who everyone was and still had decent memory. Her issues were more so in her body than in her mind. If she was physically healthy, she would have never needed assisted living. My grandpa didn't know who we were most of the time and became a vegetable. It was sad.

I don't know how you deal with all the stress of everything. You really need to give yourself a lot of credit for it, taking care of your mother. I don't think I could manage if my mom got bad. I have a hard enough time with her now. She really knows how to get under my skin and make me feel worthless.

I have to use one for Brock's meds or I would get messed up. I mean there is no shame in keeping things organized. It is less stressful.

My sister used to say my mother liked me more, but she hated me as a kid because I was...well...me. But yeah, my mother started off doing exactly that, having a casual conversation, going off on a tangent completely out of the blue and getting mad at me for not getting her point or understanding her. It just got more and more off-kilter the worse she got to the point that now she doesn't make any sense at all when she talks.

Yep, if it's caught early there are meds that can help slow or even reverse the progress, there is help out there, she just has to take it.

Yep, that's my daily existence, as well. She doesn't remember who I am, but she knows damn well how to get to me.

I really do hope they can tackle what causes this. I mean there are general ideas... Cooking in aluminum, high levels of stress, and certain vitamin/mineral deficiencies but people need to be educated on this stuff and it needs to be common practice in the medical world to help people change their diets and better their lifestyles before resorting to pills that only lead to more pills. I am glad there is at least something but still. I think a lot of people 50+ were exposed to toxins we weren't too so that doesn't help anything.

I just hope she actually goes and sees a doctor. She has woken up from sleep like 3 or 4 times in the last year asking where her little son is, asking my brother where his little brother is... We don't have a younger brother. I am the youngest. Maybe she wanted me to be a boy. lol Would not surprise me at this point. I think she hates women.

Yeah, I think that's a huge part of it. Exposure to materials that we just didn't know could cause that kind of harm. It's so unfortunate.

Yeah, she does that to me, too. She'll ask where one of her kids is or where her childhood friends are. That's during one of her rare lucid moments.

Well you remember my mother and her issues with me being born...one of them...two sides of the same coin;)
