I turned the Future Trunks Saga into a full length movie

Last week me and my friend were talking about and comparing the newest Dragon Ball anime movies. Eventually I brought up something I'd always thought, if Dragon ball Super hadn't been a thing then the story involving Goku Black and Future Trunks would have been a good movie to follow Resurrection F. My friend agreed with this and said that maybe someone has put something up on Youtube like that.

Later on I took a look and no they hadn't, there was a 70 minute video that started half way through the saga which jumped around and had completely different music placed over it that droned out he dialogue but that was all.

So I thought...why don't I try and make one? But if I wanted to make a movie, then I didn't want to make a 6 hour movie or 4 hour movie, I wanted to make a realistic 2 hour movie, no more than 120 minutes. The whole saga without all the intros, outros, previews and eye captures was roughly 7 hours long which meant cutting out almost 70% of the story and still have it make sense.

Ultimately I made almost 180 cuts but could only get it down to as low as 124 minutes.

Now this was the very first video I've ever edited, not even a little 2 minute clip so it took me some doing. I didn't replace the backing music and it's certainly not perfect so the music can jump in a little at times but I did the best that I could, I went through it over and over to make it as smooth as possible. There's probably some holes in the plot I may have missed but I watched the whole thing and yeah it mostly works.

I uploaded it to Youtube, there's several copyright claims on it obviously but it's available to be watched everywhere except France and some nearby smaller territories.

So I hope that people at least give it a little watch, it is the English dubbed version, and tell me what you think because I started this and thought it'd be a day long thing but I put a lot of effort into it and spent a week on it.

I'll give this a watch when I have time. I know how long it can take and how much work goes into such video edits so props to you on that.

Thank you, yeah this took a while, If spent hours combing through the video to maybe remove 30 seconds of footage. Then I'd have to spend hours saving the file, I'd watch the whole thing only to notice a few frames that would need correcting and then do it all again.

It was impossible to get it flow fully at only 2 hours but it was fun to play around with.

Looks like you got no response when you posted this on DBZF or DBZeta. No surprise there.

No I posted it on a few but except for Kanzenshuu most other Dragon Ball boards are dead. Which is odd for how big the franchise is.

It doesn't matter how big the franchise is, truth is, forums just don't do as good anymore and a major reason why is mainstream social media sites like Facebook, Reddit and Twitter.

May they die a swift death. Sadly, you're completely right about that.
Reddit isn't too bad but Facebook and Twitter both are very toxic and just a breeding ground for narcissism and hate. I hope as people tire of both, forums make a come back.

Well like I said above I'd posted on a few forums that I'd put this together and I at most got 16 views in an hour. I posted it on Reddit and then it rocketed up to over 200 views in an hour.

It does seem like forums aren't as popular as they used to be. I used to always go on IMDB and IGNs forums but now the former has gone and the later is dead except for the vestibule.

Maybe it's considered an outdated thing now.

I watched your cut and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Consider yourself lucky that you have a watchable medium. Putting the printed word out to the masses is outdated and no one wants to read anymore.

Reddit's not bad, but it doesn't compare to a proper forum community, and it definitely has its' toxic parts. Twitter and Facebook are ridiculous for toxicity and absolutely ruined civilized discourse on the internet. Forums used to be the go-to next to old school chatrooms, and all forums had a general netiquette that they adhered to which allowed for discussion and disagreement without it being taken to the levels of abhorrent conduct and mock outrage that takes place in conversations these days thanks to the rise of social media and those who think having a social media account suddenly gives them a platform to voice whatever disgusting view they want without repercussions.

I'd love nothing more than the days of the forums to return, alongside the return of civil discourse without it turning into a ridiculous trollfest. I'd take that back any day.

Well like I said above I'd posted on a few forums that I'd put this together and I at most got 16 views in an hour. I posted it on Reddit and then it rocketed up to over 200 views in an hour.

Forums are definitely considered outdated by those who never participated in them. For the average internet user, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and Instagram are practically all they know, so platforms aimed at broader discussions and focused subject matter are near unheard of. I was in charge of a very large gaming community that shut down after 17 years of activity because the overall owner didn't want to do it anymore and didn't want to sell it on either, those of us who still want to talk to one another are limited to a subreddit and a Facebook group, and the discussions just aren't what they used to be, so most of the people that used to be active just don't participate anymore because it isn't what we knew, what many of us grew up with.

Forums are an amazing way to communicate with people that you just can't replicate with Facebook, Twitter, Reddit or any of the other social media platforms. Not to mention the centralization of the internet is a dangerous thing when you consider just how much of your personal information people willingly give away to those platforms. It's why I stay away from Google services (though admittedly I'm a hypocrite here because I have a gmail account and use YouTube to watch videos), utilize "safe" search engines, stay away from social media as much as possible, keep my own media in physical and digital format so I don't get shocked when Netflix, Hulu, etc suddenly remove a movie I wanted to watch or a show I was in the middle of, and do whatever possible to stay away from other services that I consider as a part of the centralized internet. De-centralized content is the way to go, for sure. Sorry, going off on a tangent there, but yeah, forums today are considered outdated by the average user, but that by no means makes them useless as a platform. Do a bit of a deep dive and you'll quickly find outlets for just about everything in forum format, and let's not forget about the monster that is GaiaOnline, 2.4 billion posts and growing from 30+million users. Forums have a place, but social media is jeopardizing that place the longer those platforms stay around.

It's why we need to work hard to keep this forum running. We are the engineers of the ship and our civil, practical, and fun filled participation are what keeps the ship right on it's course. I agree with everything that was stated about social media, its a hive of scum and villainy. We all know where that's from but I'm afraid if we cross over with Dragon Ball the space time continuum might implode in on itself. I digress, WE the fans must do our part to shepherd our beloved franchise into the future. Not much is going on with Dragon Ball right now save Heroes and DBZ: Kakarot releasing in Jan. I'd like to personally extend my thanks to Bokura for their hard work in doing their part to move the fandom along step by step.

Not to keep dragging this off-topic, but since OP has only posted on this site in this thread, I doubt it matters. If forums are to thrive, they'll need to change and adapt. Forum developers are clinging onto their old ways and it doesn't work with how people are consuming content these days. The forum home listing is a perfect example of that.

This forum? I think it looks nice :pissed:

lolol but I think I know what you are saying. Forum devs should be focusing on making the forums look and function more like social media than old school social networking.

This forum?
haha no, I mean how every software has a basic-bitch list of forum names with (or without) the description and the thread/reply counts. All useless information that most people don't give a crap about. It's not like someone comes in and says, "oh, they have a list of all the places I can talk in...and look! Wowwie! This one has 5000 threads in it! Gee golly, I'm hooked on this forum!"

Nah, people see a conversation or content with something they like that entices them to join. Also, how easily they can participate these days is a huge factor in getting people to participate in the first place, let alone join. Unfortunately, there's so many stubborn people who are so adamantly against making it looking anything near a social media platform, despite that being what probably would draw more people in. Anyway, I'm ranting now haha.

I agree there needs to be a fundamental change in how forums look, emphasizing content and de-emphasizing statistics, but I don't necessarily agree that it needs to look more like social media, per se. I think Flarum's doing a pretty decent job of moving things forward, though it's by no means perfect. XF needs to change things up a bit, because it is indeed very formulaic (forumulaic?) in its' layout and approach, and could benefit by changing the emphasis to the content rather than the organization of said content.

You are right though.

The internet has become mainstream and so has socializing online. This wasn't the case just 10 years ago. Social media pretty much took off around 2009/2010 and a bunch of people started spending hours a day online talking with other people who would normally just use texting to communicate. That and the gaming industry pushing things like Discord made it easier for people to talk online and meet new people.

It is easier for people to just talk about everything in one place and lazy internet goers love the ease of being able to do that on one platform. Social media is pretty much a forum without a niche so the focus falls flat on the user. It makes them the important factor and people these days eat that up.

I know some themes focus more on the content itself. The layout looks more like a social wall mixed with a blog. All the categories fall to the site and whatever is new and popular is seen first on the front page.

Why not, though? If you came to this site and were presented with a simple layout that highlighted topics and people you were interested in, while still allowing you to discover new content, would that not be ideal? I'm not saying turning it into facebook or twitter, but following a flow that gives people what they want right in their face so they don't have to look for it.

For sure. I've been following the folks at XF since they were with vBulletin 3.0. Great developers, but they are still stuck in a very old way of doing things. I just don't think they will ever break out of that mindset.
You are right though.

For sure. Try getting people to read anything more than 255 characters these days...even that is pushing it. Forums needs a TL;DR version for everything :D

You're unfortunately correct. The niche sites are slowly but surely dying out. I made more contacts with artists on that cesspool known as Twitter than on DeviantArt which is for posting art! What is even real anymore?!!!!!
