Metallica’s St. Anger (2003).

I’ll probably get a lot of hate for this and everyone here is going to laugh at me and completely disagree with me and that’s fine, but I think I consider St. Anger to be by far my favorite Metallica album and when I really think about it…it’s the Metallica album I find myself coming back to the most these days.

Like, I have always loved Metallica as a band, but I don’t think the band has ever sounded quite as raw, hardcore, passionate, personal or as angry or as tortured or as dysfunctional as they did on St. Anger. And it’s the only Metallica album I personally own on Vinyl.

At least the very least, you could make a strong argument that St. Anger is a much better metal/Metallica album than the Black Album and Load/Reload. Like, I’d personally much rather listen to Some Kind Of Monster, Frantic or the title track, St. Anger itself over Enter Sandman or The Unforgiven or Nothing Else Matters for the fifth billionth time. But, that’s personally just me.

But, what is everyone else’s views and opinions on St. Anger as an album and where Metallica was as a band in the Early-2000’s???

As for being the better album between the Black and Load/Reload, I agree, but only because St. Anger has more songs I enjoy than hate. I alos hold some hate toward sthe black album because Metallica's original fanbase was worried that they would "sell out" and in a interveiw, Lars I think, basically told the die hard fans of before they didn't like this new album then fuck them and we don't want them as fans, or something like that.

Yeah I know James and Lars made a lot of really dumb comments in the 90’s like making fun of Kurt Cobain’s suicide and Layne Staley‘s addiction. They could be absolute pricks back then, I won’t deny that.

That hasn’t gone unnoticed with me at all.
