It seems like TV series have taken over for a lot of people. I seldom watch movies myself. The last one I watched was Joker and it was good but the concept of a movie in general just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I don't even know what titles are coming out this year or next year. I haven't cared enough to look into it.

For me, I would rather watch a series.

Are movies still a big deal to you?

I still watch movies, but like TV Shows it has to appeal to me to make it want to watch it. When I was younger I watched every movie I could, but now I just watch whatever catches my attention or is about something I enjoy.

Movies were never a 'big deal' to me, per se, but I'd say they've tapered off a lot more as time has worn on. I still enjoy a good film every now and then, but I'm more likely to watch a series or just follow along with a YT channel's series than watch a full blown movie nowadays. I'd say that's the more common approach for most, as well.

I've always been a movie person. I also am a TV person. I also liked the super hero movies. The thing with movies is that there are times when I enjoy the story and they setup for a sequel, but then it never happens because they didn't make as much as expected on the first film. That kinda disappoints me. At least with TV, you get several episodes in.

If anything, I've become a bigger movie fan over the years. Just a few months ago I went out of my way to watch all of Satoshi Kon's films. Satoshi Kon made some of the best films of all-time and also Paprika. For the most part growing up, I'd mostly only watch movies if they were attached to a franchise I was already attached to, hence why I've seen Lord Slug and Return of Cooler multiple times yet have never even seen a full scene from The Godfather series. But in the last few years I've been more willing to branch out, watching movies more because I like the names involved in the projects, usually directors, mostly anime ones but Rian Johnson too. It's not a favourite medium of mine or anything, but I've been appreciating it more as I grow older.

Learned something new today about movies. Apparently, 34 foreign movies are selected in China to show in their theaters and since movies are still a HUGE deals there, like the act of going to see them, if you get a movie cleared to show in China, you end up with waaaaaaaaaay more money. A lot of movie producers take this into account and actually follow guidelines set by China just so they can get more money. I am not as shocked about how no one in Hollywood was standing up for Hong Kong or the fact that the Mulan remake actress completely denounced them. It was all about the money.

Yep and it's why 99.9% of Hollywood is full of nothing but gigantic hypocrites. Ricky Gervais ripped off the mask when he told them they have no right to tell anyone to do anything. :)
