SPOILERS AHEAD: DO NOT READ THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU'RE CAUGHT UP ON THE SERIES
I'm a bit conflicted about Erens character development.
I understand two things.
First that Eren isn't just Eren anymore. He's inherited the conciousness of all previous Founding and Attack Titans. So he's literally not the same person.
Second, that they're playing the anti-predictability game. At one moment he seems like the hero, then a villiain the next. In fact, it plays this game with all of the factions within the story: Marley, Zeke, Eren, Erens old companions, and the Paradis military/government complex.
I think they are playing it too fast and loose though. It feels kind of like that two-part episode of South Park where Cartman is trying to find out who his father is. You know the classic
"Who IS Cartmans father? Is it Chef? Mr. Garrison? Officer Barbrady? The 1987 Denver Broncos?"
"Who IS the villain of AoT? Is it Eren? Zeke? Marley? Eldia? Ymir? The Scouts? Erens friends?"
Only, South Park MEANT it to be a joke.
If Eren is meant to be the closing villain of the series, then they should just make it clear get it over with. Stop toying with us.
It's been like a rollercoaster that started off amazing but the final stretch is this awful string of loops that make you puke and want to get off.
