Now I am wondering what happens next. I do hope they start the anime next year but I feel like with how things have been going, we might not see it till 2022.
The chapter was really good and I like the direction they're taking the story. There's intrigue right off the bat that makes you wonder who this new character is and what his motivations are.
I believe this is the first example we've seen of Vegeta drinking alcohol and he's slugging that beer back like there's no tomorrow. After what he went through he definitely earned it.

Granola looks cool and I like that the new arc is seemingly more sci-fi based, so that's cool. It also seems that Beerus and Whis are going to be pre-occupied and not involved in this next arc, which is a plus. I love those two, but it'll be nice for dramatic tension not to have those too readily available if the day needs saving. Super has mostly been good about avoiding using them that way admittedly, only Golden Frieza did really but still.
That said, and spoiler incoming in these next big block of texts, this was one of the most disappointing chapters of Super. The longer the Moro arc lasted the more complaints seemed to crop up about it, and I defended those decisions, most notably Goku giving Moro the Senzu Bean. But Merus surviving? Nope, that lowers my opinion on the whole arc, and Super as a whole. It's still probably my favourite arc, but that sort of felt insulting. Like, I get it, it's Dragon Ball, 90% of the time the dead characters are coming back to life, and 9% of that is just because the villains usually stay dead. And I actually do like that about Dragon Ball, but think about Android 16. Off the top of my head, he's the only good guy death that actually stuck, and it's one of the reason the Cell Saga feels so special, and with how much Moro was borrowing from the series' history and with Merus' role, it felt we were getting something similar here with Merus. And like, Merus' whole character arc was building to this sacrificial moment. The arc spent a long time building up to Merus' sacrifice and when it happened it worked, it carried emotional and narrative weight, but let's throw all that out the window and handwave his sacrifice so he can have a BS happy ending.
The Moro arc ends up having practically zero consequence. Like yeah, Merus doesn't have Angel powers anymore but so what, 90% of the time nobody besides Goku and Vegeta get to have any meaningful contribution to the arc anyway so it's hardly a penalty. And again, I don't mind Dragon Ball habit of bringing everyone back from the dead but the problem here is that they spent time building up dramatic stakes, seemingly followed through on them, and then decide at the last moment those stakes didn't actually matter. It's like a joke on the audience where the punchline is we actually took them seriously when they wanted us too. Awful decision.
