This is just my personal opinion, but I don't think we need a Discord channel. Once this forum gets active enough, a chatbox will be just fine for us, like you suggested.

No, there is not one. Discord is fine for active lively forums. This one is still in the beginning stages. It is best to keep discussions on here.

Yeah, as soon as you integrate some live chat feature, all the content moves to that and then the forums die. Not a good idea *ever* IMO.
