Sierra Leone International and Bristol City Football Club goalkeeper (from 2017 - 2019) Alhaji Sesay has been jailed for 10 years for rape and assault charges stemming from an attack that took place in a Bristol nightclub in July of 2019. Bristol City FC currently play in the Championship, the second highest tier in English professional football, though were a League One side (one tier below the Championship) at the time the assault took place. Video footage shows 22 year-old Sesay entering and dancing in the club before entering the women's bathroom, where he trapped a woman in a cubicle and forcefully raped her. She managed to escape his grasp and find the security personnel in the club to raise the alarm. It is suspected to be a possibility that Sesay raped other women who have not come forward, and prosecutors described him as "a violent sexual predator." He was found not guilty on a second rape charge, thought details behind that charge are scarce.
