Because of a surge in violent crimes like carjackings in Chicago, one state lawmaker from the city has introduced a bill targeting what he sees as a possible catalyst for the nefarious activity — violent video games, like those in the popular Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Rep. Marcus Evans Jr., from Chicago’s South Side, has called for the banning of sales of video games that showcase, among other things, “motor vehicle theft with a driver or passenger present.” This comes as a recent local TV news report from Chicago revealed that some carjacking suspects are not even old enough to drive, and it quoted a local philanthropist as speculating that GTA and video games like it might influence young people to do bad things.

So let me get this straight...
This dude wants to blame GTA for crime problems he can't control in his area. If people were playing GTA, I would wager they have less time to actually be out committing crimes. Also, this makes little to no sense considering most carjacking is done by drug dealers/users, gang-related crap, and people who can't afford to be sitting around playing video games. I would argue that more people should be playing GTA just to keep teens and young adults off the street.
Also, think it is pretty funny how Democrats these days are doing what the Republicans were doing in the '80s and '90s... Ya know, blaming violence in video games for the crime instead of blaming their failed terms that only help destroy their own cities.
