How come no one remembers the Martial Art Tournament fighters in DBZ?

In Dragon Ball it seems many remembered Master Roshi, who hasn't competed for many years. Years after years the people in Dragon Ball remembered the strong fighters, especially those that could use ki. But now comes DBZ and somehow no one remembers the tournament fighters and they even consider ki attack fake, how in the world doesn't anyone remember Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, Krillin, Jackie Chan, etc, from the tournament.

Goku battled in the 23rd Martial Art Tournament, it is weird that no one remembers Goku from that time in the Cell Games or the Buu Saga.

However this is the weird part, how did Mr Satan get popular and famous? He has shown nothing amazing compared to the 21st-23rd Martial Art Tournament.

You know, I wondered this myself but I think all the people who used ki stopped fighting in them and it normalized people like Mr Satan who were just general strongmen.

This was definitely something I didn't find believable. The people who saw Goku fight Piccolo, for example, should have still been alive. There's no way all these people forgot something like that. This made the Cell Games painful (especially after the fact).

I'm starting to think that the crazy fights in the 23rd Budokai scared all of the serious fighters off, and that there haven't been any since. Hence why average fighters like Mister Satan stepped up and took the spotlight. So it's not like people forgot, they just chose to forget.

Oh, and then there's also the fact that Piccolo Daimao started going after serious martial artists and killing them all literally an Arc before the 23rd Budokai. So I think that's another big reason why they're not around anymore, aside from the Z Fighters.

Whch yeah includes:
No more Crazy Chracters (because toriyama drawed so long crazy stuff as aliens that he forgot he was doing the same stuff on earth)
Less Magic (because Cell and early buu is pretty science/ poilitically? based)
And yeah giant memory loses!

But at least super stirs a bit more to pre namek earth!
