While I am taking a pretty big step back from politics, I do remember being fascinating by the whole "history has a way of repeating itself". This, be it down to human inaccuracy or just stupidity, you be the judge of that one. There is a clip from the video below that is fairly interesting though. He speaks about the Fall of Rome. I will start it at that point.
Not trying to make yet another political thread but more of a history comparison thread. I think human history is messy but also fascinating.
There are some interesting connections. We have seen this all come to pass in the last 50 or so years on a pretty big scale.
Rome - Farmers
US - Business Owners
Rome - Large Land Owners
US - Large Business Owners
Rome - Slaves ( from Spain, Africa, Greece) Used For Labor By The Rich
US - Outsourcing Labor (think China) & Massimmigration Of Low-education Labor Workers (who work for next to nothing within the US)
As we see today, more and more big businesses are buying up smaller ones and there are fewer and fewer small business owners, especially after 2020. A small business can't keep up with profit margins because they don't have the time, power, or resources to outsource for labor, goods, or general supplies needed to expand their business. They (big businesses) are able to keep people in a state of poverty as well by offering them low-pay, no education needed job positions instead of people actually being able to start up their own companies. It is fully possible, don't get me wrong but it is very, very difficult today to do this. With the US dollar inflation coming in the near future, even more businesses (small ones) are expected to close. The bigs ones will be just fine, don't you worry!
What this all leads to is civilian revolt. While I know a lot of people like Tim Pool will say this is a different time and more of an information war... You can't ignore the fact that large numbers of people have more power than the government and if enough of them unite under the same cause, they can't do a damn thing about it.
The US has become an Oligarchy for the rich. That much is clear. Look at Bill Gates and Bezos types.
And I know there is WAY more to this than what is being discussed here. More things took place to bring on the fall of Rome but the similarities are pretty fascinating. All things considered, it is a pretty fascinating time to be alive right now. For better or worse, I think big change is coming and I just hope more people are able to become (or at least educate themselves) self-sufficient and get off government aid before it is too late.
