Not really. I do agree that it's not the best Saga of Dragon Ball, I think overall the Future Trunks/Androids/Cell Saga is the best of Dragon Ball but Namek/Frieza is second for me. When I read Dragon Ball in whole earlier this year, my favourite run of chapters was the beginning of Namek, when it was less about battles and more of a three-way struggle between Frieza's force, Vegeta, and Gohan's group for the Dragon Ball. It's not something that stood out to me when I watched it as a kid or play versions of it in the video games, but it was very engaging and I think it's the strongest plotting in all of Dragon Ball. You got Vegeta's growing strength and badassness, and you got Gohan & Krillin having to figure out how to maneuver around and get the Dragon Balls with two opposing forces that are equally threatening, the moment where Gohan tricks Vegeta was awesome. It's like a really exciting three-way cat and mouse game and I love that. Beyond that, I think of all of Vegeta's characters arcs he's gotten throughout Z and Super his original on Namek is still the strongest. His rebellion from Frieza, his enemy of my enemy is my friend with our group, the gradual transition onto our side, his original death scene where he reveals the truth of Frieza while tearing up is a powerful moment that was built up effectively. Which on that note, I love Cell but it's hard to argue against Frieza being the best villain. I don't think any villain was built up better than him, his designs are great, he's a pretty good foil to Goku, his moveset is one of the most versatile, and he has a more pronounced effect on the story and characters than any of other others. I do think it has it's problems and I imagine the pacing in the anime probably makes it a bit rough to go back that way. But it's strengths are too strong for me to call it overrated even if I consider it the best.
