Dragon Ball Z Kai Is watching Z Kai after having watched Z worth it?

I never actually watched Dragon Ball Z Kai. Anytime it was on, I just wasn't into watching things on TV. I can watch it online, I am sure, but is it even worth it? I know there are differences in the animation. Some say Kai looks better than the original others say no. I guess the bloodiness is also toned way down.

For anyone who has watched both, what do you think?

Have you only ever watched the Kai version and not the original?

I have watched both.

It all depends on how much you want to be invested in the Dragon Ball franchise. I would recommend watching Kai if you want to be a bigger Dragon Ball fan. I would ignore the Boo Saga in Kai however.

Kai is much faster paced and easier to sit through than Dragon Ball Z and it reflects the Manga better because it has less filler. It also has a much better dub because it's a lot more accurate to the Japanese Anime and also the Manga.

The animation quality is up to interpretation between the original and Kai. I think they both have advantages over the other in that regard. The Boo Saga Kai is even better than the first Kai and the Original Z Anime, but the pacing is almost as bad as the Boo Saga is in the Original Z. The Boo Saga dub in Z is also better than the rest of Z anyway, so it doesn't even have a big edge over it in that regard either.

So yeah. Considering you administrate a DBZ forum on XenForo, I would strongly suggest you get into Kai. Like I said though, ignore the Boo Saga, but that's also up to you.

I thought it over and now I remember why I didn't initially get into it. I like the filler. I know a lot of people don't but I found it entertaining. I also don't keep up with the manga. I am planning on getting into it in the future but as of right now, I don't follow much of it outside from possible new stories that will branch over to the anime. Comics/manga have never appealed to me on a big level which is why I likely haven't gotten into it yet. My main staple has always been the original Dragon Ball Z. I am a huge fan of it and will always be a huge fan of it. Super is great and I enjoyed GT for what it was. I also liked Dragon Ball but Z to me is the peak and when I look at Kai, it feels like it is just a copy/paste of something I already loved. Does that make sense?

Will I eventually watch it? I am sure I will but I am in no rush for it.

Filler is necessary in Anime that are adapted from Manga. The Dragon Ball Manga is more face paced than you would think so I welcome some filler in Dragon Ball Z as well. It does have too much filler, but that's expected in older Anime. The One Piece Anime, the Naruto Anime, and even the Bleach Anime have worse filler than it anyway.

I watched some Bleach, never finished it all. I do want to check out One Piece int he future. Filler makes the series longer so long as it is developing characters, I don't mind it.

I always thought of Kai as a more kid-friendly version of the show and thus, it had no appeal to me.

Yeah they removed a lot of blood and whatnot. I can see why they did it but still, I was a kid when I got into DBZ and it wasn't really necessary to remove it all. The updated animation is fine I guess but I still prefer the older style.
