The game was changed/ Developed for modern Audiences! Which made it historically inacurate?!
Hear me out...
To get games into China at the moment, the CCP looks at the intended game, puruse ...scan the game for things they don't like. Communicate with the company on removing or censoring parts of the game, or it gets banned.
In this situation, I think they'll do the same. And make it a law.
In China for example, you CANNOT release a game about Tiennen Square (Correct me here), IN China. That's how they erase history, because they want to sow patriotism.
You cannot sell that kinda game in China, its banned.

This is Japan though. I know they are strict with stuff in China but Japan never really got strict with things until now. I can't blame them for getting mad about this though. It is mocking their history.

I don't hate the character, I don't hate what they're trying to "do" with the character. They were looking for a badass black dude to be basically a Shao Khan of the storyline, but Asia is a stickler for history.
The controversy isn't the character. The controversy is the story itself, the storyline with the black male in a storyline about Japan vs the world. Usually its a battle between Japan and China for one example, or Japan and... uh.. the jews. (Like Shogun.)
This is basically Battlefield V repeating all over again. This time, a whole country is pissed off now. Customers legitimately don't want it.

I think if this was a stand-a-lone game, no one would care but it is an AC title which is makes it come off like an insult. They use rap beats during the fight sequences as well. Like how tone deaf can you be? Plenty of black people already love Japanese culture. They did not need this to sell the game to black men. They did it for DEI points so they can get more funding for the game.
And they even use Chinese items throughout the game and don't even understand cherry blossom seasons. You can tell they had NO ONE that understands Japanese culture and history work on this game.
I hate it when entertainment becomes historically inaccurate. I feel like that actually messes with the quality of the product.
TBH Dont hire Sweet Baby or other consultancy firms literally just grab any Person of the ethnicity you want to rep they gonna do a better job and are cheaper!But they had a team of Japanese people that understood the history!
They could have just worked with a Japanese studio. Like whoever they had claimed to know about Japanese history and culture must not have known a whole lot.
