Music Life of Agony's Lead Singer Detransitions

I am not very familiar with the band but he was mentioned in a video and I was curious and looked into it more.

Keith Caputo, who went by the name Mina, decided he wanted to be a trans woman in 2011 after struggling for years with gender dysphoria since his teens. He has since stopped taking hormones a number of years ago and got help and has stated he is no longer struggling with gender dysphoria and removed his breast implants in January of this year.

Since getting help for his mental struggles, a lot of so called fans are throwing out their merch, burning it, etc. and basically saying they aren't fans of the band anymore because he detransitioned.

On the flip side, Chester Bennington's son announced to the world on Instagram (on Valentine's Day) that he is a trans woman now. I have a feeling his father's suicide played a role in this and I cannot imagine what it is like to lose a father at a young age. I hope he gets mental help for this and comes out okay on the other side. Maybe his mother's anger factored in here. A lot of times mothers that hate men end up making their sons feel ashamed for being boys without realizing it.

So fans are destroying the bands merchandise because the singer is trying to get help? I mean, I know some folks that think that way, but it still never sickens me any less.

Mental Illness is tough to deal with. It's better to treat it, rather than champion it. It is harder (and less convenient)to help people struggling, rather than posting a tweet saying, "Slay Queen" or some shit.

As someone who has struggled with PTSD (and saw a father struggle with it), it's a nightmare and not to be treated a taboo social top8c, that so many have made it out to be.

More power to this person on getting help that they needed. Anyone who shows out because of this, is a damn fool.
