Crazy how popular InuYasha was back in the day, and how it fell into obscurity. I think it's because it ended in 2008 so the Big Three Manga (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach) took over it's popularity.

Watching that video taught me one thing -- DB is super consistent. Spent the early part of the '00s mired in the middle of the chart, then it had its' "NEW MOVIE COMING OUT!" moment in the mid 10s and it spent the rest of the video in the top 8. So many others went up and down the entire chart so many times, or up and then completely out of the picture, but DB...DB stayed consistent.

It will always be a consistent brand as long as they don't do anything to damage the brand with woke bull shit. Thank goodness the Japanese eschew that.

You can also tell which ones are just trending like Attack On Titan and Demon Slayer.

This is true, stick true to the core DB ethos and it'll hold them steady with their audience. Hard to go wrong with saiyans and power ups and ki blasts!

True, some of the big names blasted into the lead for a bit then vanished without a trace, and some kept coming back like One Punch Man. Funny seeing the trends.

I knew several people who didn't even "like" anime who watched that.

Well yeah, if they just watched Inuyasha it's no wonder they don't like anime.

I don't think there's much room to disparage those two compared to Dragon Ball, certainly not Demon Slayer anyway, which once it reached the top spot, it never went below second place. All these are influenced by what the series is currently doing, and Dragon Ball lasted a lot longer and has a lot more content than Attack on Titan. Attack on Titan's first season exploded in popularity, but most people only had those 25 episodes for four years, yet despite having no material is still was one of the top searches. Only dipping below the top five two years after the first season ended, and still bouncing back into the top five until late 2016 when it fell off three years after the anime stopped. Though granted it still had the manga affecting ratings I'm sure, but that's true of everyone.

Anyway this was interesting to watch through. Kinda Surprised Madoka Magica never raised that high, considering it's influence, not that I expected it to top. Kinda surprised about Deadman Wonderland, but I do think it was one of the first new shows they aired when they brought back Toonami so it makes sense. Maid Sama confuses me, never really hear about that one, though I liked what little I saw from that okay enough. Bit Flabbergasted at how popular Inuyasha was though. I was kinda being flip earlier, since I liked it fine but it was a series of canon filler. I would guess that anime being a lot less accessible back and Inuyasha being a mainstay on Adult Swim played a big factor in that.

It's a shame the biggest spike in google searches wasn't really about anime and just about Hollywood hiring Scarlett Johansson.
