Awful list, where's the real best Zelda game, Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition? I kid of course, although Hyrule Warriors is actually my favourite Zelda game but I am aware that says way more about me than anything else. As someone who hasn't played much of the Zelda games, and finished even none of them (I've beaten Majora, or at least beat the final boss, might've had my brother do stuff for me at points, don't remember) this was pretty fun to read. The only Zelda games I've played a good amount of were Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Breath of the Wild, and A Link's to the Past, though I've played Twilight Princess' beginning (thought it was too slow and lost interest quickly) and a demo of Wind Waker (which was fun but I never got it). Personally, Breath of the Wild is my favourite gameplay-wise but in every other category Majora's Mask is my favourite. Love Skull Kid, his loneliness and arc really resonated with me as a kid. Skull Kid is probably my favourite video game villain tbh. Really need to play through these games, I have the 3DS Majora's Mask, I should probably get back on that. I'd rank those four Majora's Mask > Breath of the Wild > Ocarina of Time > A Link to the Past. I find it interesting how you mention Breath of the Wild is a great game but a bad Zelda title. That is something I notice, most of the complaints about that game are only in the context of it being a Zelda game. So me not having a lot of first-hand experience with the franchise is likely why I rank the game above most the other entries, sans Majora's Mask which is definitely the Zelda game I put the most time into (not counting that Warriors game because that's cheating). Of all the games I haven't played, Skyward Sword is the one I'm most interested in. Mostly for what you say at the beginning, about Groose and Link/Zelda's relationship. The only reason I haven't bothered is because I don't want to deal with motion controls, I really hope it gets a Switch port with pro controller support because I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Though the best Zelda being in Spirit Tracks piques my interest.
