I really don't care about the power, but you're definitely right that this new Broly is more than a one-note bit character. His gimmick is still the same, but there's more there to do with than previously.New Broly. The character has more depth now and isn't just some mindless monster. I also like how he talks, particularly when he talks about Ba. Also, he's way more powerful than the old version...being able to take on Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue (which I think is ridiculous btw, but they had to do it introducing him at this point in the story).
For sure the old Broly seemed much more implacable, though in a way I think Super Broly had the better end. With the older Broly it felt like a cop-out loss where in Super the team really had to go all out to stop him. Super's way of handling him felt like it gave him a lot more "weight" if that makes sense.Super Broly because he has a character outside of Goku crying too loud. Though I will say this about Old Broly, he came across as a more overwhelming threat than Super Broly. Like yeah, I know Super Broly is far more powerful than Old Broly, but he doesn't carry the same presence since his fights were more competitive, and Frieza lasted an entire hour getting pummeled by him and survived, Old Broly was making chumps out of Four Super Saiyans and Piccolo. Super Broly lost that dominant presence that made Old Broly a series favourite but I'll take an actual character over that any day.
