Other languages?

The Namekians have their own and we know based on the Saiyan scouters, the Tuffles had their own but why not any other race? (unless I am forgetting one?)

To the best of my memory, we only ever heard one other language spoken. This is not including "the language of the gods" spoken for the super dragon balls.

I know this is just an anime but with the expansion of the universe, and well, universes, you'd think another language would have popped up by now.

In all seriousness though. I don't believe there has been any other languages showcased other than what you previously mentioned. As a matter of fact, a lot of the depictions of culture outside of Earth seem to be very eastern based. The food being eaten, chop sticks being used, mannerisms in greeting. Guess Japan is really leaving it's fingerprint in the Dragon Ball multiverse.

I understand that it is easier for writing and such but I would have liked some differences to spice things up.

There is a whole lot of lore they can fill in with a few filler episodes of anime. Until then we're all left wondering and pretending if there is any other variation out there in the multiverse. I like to pretend that parts of my Universe 9 are like inner city America.

Hence why I have Sorrel and Shihori say the F word so much in the dialogue I write. It's the universal adjective. ;)

It would be nice to have additional languages and cultures in play, agreed, but I think that whole aspect was kept as streamlined as possible so as not to overcomplicate it for the younger audience base. After all, they would have had to have gone to Tolkien-esque lengths to actually develop those languages to satisfy some of the fanbase. Safer just to keep it as somehow everyone speaks English/Japanese and poof, the universe is magic.

I keep forgetting this was converted to be a series primarily for kids now lol

It was always series for kids. The Japanese are just less sensitive about certain subjects than us in the west. On a side note, I think there's one important language/cultural aspect we're forgetting that is prominently displayed in Dragon Ball. That is, violence solves all your problems!

Dragon Ball always came off as an adult show to me. I can see DBZ being for teens but not kids. I guess when it got more popular world-wide, they toned back the blood and such for this very reason.
