Video Games Pokemon Sword & Pokemon Shield

Are you getting these games if you haven't already? If you already have, what are your thoughts on them?

Sword and Shield have been receiving some serious heat from Pokemon fans and critics alike, but honestly I think the cracks were already starting to show before this in X & Y and Sun & Moon. The reason I say this is because they were already introducing stuff like Mega Evolutions and Alolan Forms, and certain gameplay mechanics becoming noticeably altered in general. People just didn't complain as much then as they are now because it's finally gotten too far.

Personally, I don't really care that much about them removing older Pokemon in these games, my biggest complaint is that I just don't like it that they replaced them with newer ones, outside the new Starter Pokemon and new Legendary Pokemon of course. Adding new Pokemon outside of Starters and Legendaries only hurts the franchise at this point.

I'm still going to get these games, I just won't hold them in the same regard as I do the first five generations of Pokemon.

I don't plan on getting it. I am glad there are people out there who are enjoying it but I just can't get over how many useless Pokemon they added. If you look at their stats and movesets, most of them aren't anything special. Some can replace other mons while not looking as good. Then they removed a lot of Pokemon and us players had absolutely no say in which ones stayed and which ones went. I mostly play for the competitive aspect of the game not the story so they kinda ruined it for me.

I'm a bit of a sucker for the Pokemon series, have been since Red and Blue, so I'll likely pick them up at some point, but I'm not in a rush. I have somewhat of a backlog of games I picked up that I need to get through, so they'll be down the list a bit yet. I still enjoy the Pokemon series, though I do feel they've made the games considerably less difficult over the years to accommodate the younger generations. Makes me love going back to play R/B/Y or G/S/C every now and then, appreciation for the grind you had to go through in those days that you just don't have in this generation of games.

I am intrigued to see how the first "real" Pokemon game on the Switch turns out, though. Lets Go was a fun little thing, but I'm interested to see how the "real" games play.

This is 100% my thoughts on the pokemon series. If you want a challenge, go back to the first games (still the greatest).

While I found Pokemon: Let's Go to be a bit gimicky, I do still enjoy them more then Sword and Shield. I found Sword to be super boring. I finish the main story and have no incliniation to go back to it.

Okay, maybe when I can pick up a Squirtle I may return....

Yeah, they're great to go back to and remind yourself of the grind. No frills, just plain old Pokemon action!

I did pick up Sword and Shield since that post, and I have had a chance to play a little bit of one of them (I forget which), and it's intriguing, but it's so far removed from what Pokemon used to be, and far too much talking. I'd love to just get on with it...maybe as it gets further in there's more grind? Who knows.

I just beat Leon, I enjoyed the game but im not a huge Pokemon fan in the sense ive played all but i dont know all the pokemon lmao and hardly follow any channels pertaining tot them
Ill def be buying the dlc
