R.I.P, Kentaro Miura

I might be a little late to this, and I don't want to provide any sources since you can find this out on Google or Wikipedia yourselves.

I would be a little sadder about the Berserk Manga had it "ended" without wrapping up important plot points, like Guts finally finding peace and Casca regaining her memory, but it still leaves me personally with a bittersweet ending, nonetheless. Needless to say, my heart goes out to Miura's friends and family, and may he rest in peace.

My experience with Berserk is essentially just the 97 anime and the Musou game, so I was not expecting this news to hit me as hard as it did. It ruined my whole day, I can't remember the last time a celebrity death hurt that much. And like, while I haven't read the manga, I've seen so many panels from it, and let me say, at the very least Miura's artwork is the second best in all of manga. It's insane the amount of detail and quality jammed packed in every panel of the manga. I think it's about time I start reading Berserk. RIP.

Because Berserk is amazing and influenced a lot more than people give credit for compared to the others, and Vagabond is kind of a knock off of Musashi so.

On to whether or not Berserk should continue without Miura, that depends entirely on Miura. Did he express that he wanted it to continue after his passing? Did he share future plans with his assistants or at least, had them written down so they could be accessed after his passing? Satoshi Kon made it clear that he wished for Dreaming Machine to be finished, and it's heartbreaking that they haven't been able to finish it, despite the attempts to do so. If Miura had expressed a similar desire as Kon did, I hope they could actually finish it, even though my take would probably be to just leave it unfinished.

That stated, chapter 364 being released doesn't really mean anything about Berserk's future one way or the other. It's more likely to me that it's the last chapter Miura worked on before passing.

I honestly don't think he would even mind if his assistants chose to continue the story without him. He let them illustrate his other Manga, Duranki, and they likely knew where the story was heading after the Elf Island Arc, anyway.
