Raditz & Nappa

What do you think of these two? Do you think their potential was wasted?

I do. I mean I'm not a fan of what if scenarios about characters converting to the good side to begin with, but the DBZ portion of the Dragon Ball series focuses a lot on Saiyans, and Piccolo too until the Boo Saga I guess. Nappa was a lot stronger than Raditz and it's easy to imagine him surviving and even helping Vegeta against the Z Fighters and on Namek had he not killed him after his defeat against Goku. Raditz is more difficult for me to figure out his potential to help out later in the series and even surviving against Goku and Piccolo, but he was Goku's brother as well as Gohan and Goten's uncle and Pan's great uncle on top of that.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

I never thought much on Nappa. He was like a bodyguard turned grunt for Vegeta so him being destroyed by Vegeta was something I think that worked out for the best. It showcased Vegeta's real intent and interest in only himself at the time. He didn't even care about his own race anymore.

As for Raditz, I think something could have been done with him. Like had they kept him alive, being the brother of Goku would have served as many good story angles later on. I get that they wanted to rivalry focus to be on Vegeta and Goku but sibling rivalry is more relatable. Maybe they felt it would have been too predictable? I would have liked to see Goku's family tree expand more, that's for sure.

They could always bring in an angle where Raditz had a child prior to going to earth somewhere. Maybe he or she would have been about the same age as Gohan. It would be something to go down a path like that. I have thought of different scenarios with that myself.

I think it was good how it all played out. It really added to the story with Goku and Vegeta being the only remaining true-blooded Saiyans left. That said, I think any character could have more potential with proper character development.

I don't really like nappa. but I don't like that they killed raditz right off the bat.

I think they should bring him back with the dragon balls.
