Suggestion Recruiting: We gotta figure something out.

The community isn't growing. Whatever we're doing isn't working.

Look, I know we want to pick & choose where we recruit to avoid trolls, toxicity, & spammers... But this forum will not grow if we don't accept that the bad comes with the good.

Let's recruit on every forum we can and let Beerus sort out all of the losers.

I think it's fine the way it is for now. Remember, this forum is just over a year old. It's actually a lot more active than it was last year too. Last year I was a little concerned about activity but not now.

After we focus on building the community we have right now and growing together as a forum, I agree that we do have to start recruiting people more, but not on places like Neoseeker. That forum has so many bad posters, and I'm talking about the kind that think idiotic beliefs like Kid Boo > Super Boo, etc.

When we do advertise, I think we need to focus on hitting random places on the Internet that happen to have a Dragon Ball forum to get a more established community, not just on the forums found on the first page of Google like Neoseeker, Kanzenshuu, DBZF, and DBZeta. Perhaps we can get more people from YouTube to subscribe to this forum's YouTube channel too somehow.

We had a lot of sign-ups in April if you look back. All things considered, this forum has seen a good amount of growth. Most new forums fail to get any active members in the first year. This forum just turned 2 in January so it is doing good. While it is not super active, people sign in daily and post. We need to get more engaging threads going that will entice people to join.

Going to other forums to get randoms to join doesn't work out well and I don't like to step on another forum owner's toes. The only time I find that acceptable is when a forum is shutting down. If you guys know other people on other forums and invite them, that is fine but I will not be doing that.

That's not the problem, filtering out bad users is easy. What isn't easy is pulling people away from a forum they know and love in an acceptable way, so not spamming our URL all over the place.
Growth will always be slow on newer forums and that's fine with me. If we're offering the best place to talk about DB, the members will slowly show up.

I think the obsession with growing a forum to large sizes is simply unrealistic in this day and age of the internet. What is going on here is a natural organic growth spawning from genuine content and shared interests. While yes it would be great to see the forum grow more and more active, the rate of growth it is achieving is impressive and sustainable. Grow too quickly and you lose the sense of community that we've gained here. What we have is great, and it will continue to grow so long as the content and the community keeps going as it is. Jay and Beerus are doing just fine with the current approach and I think the rate of new members joining and joining in is fine. That should pick up as the forum gains a bit more traction.

You know I'm starting to think that just getting the URL out there is helpful for the growth of this forum. Sometimes people underestimate the power of the word of mouth.
