The hint, to me, is that Cell doesn't attack him despite having the surprise factor in his side. I mean, if he was stronger than SSJ Vegeta that would have been a very easy and convenient prey for him. SSJ Vegeta was a tad stronger in my opinion (there would still be a nice fight between them), strong enough that Cell has to let him leave for the moment. Kami-Piccolo > A17 => Supressed Piccolo > A18 = SSJ Vegeta, that's how I see it. Even if A16 speaks of Piccolo as the only able to fight both androids, we know that A17 surpases A18, which gives us margin to put supressed Piccolo (who didn't supress himself a lot, he just was wearing his weightened clothes) above SSJ Vegeta in terms of powers. Since the androids advantage in both fights came because of their unlimited strength, and Piccolo fared much better against A17 than Vegeta against A18, we can put unrestrained Piccolo a bit above A17 in terms of pure strength (not above enough to grant him a win, of course). By the way, SSJ Vegeta couldn't rival the androids in terms of overall fighting capabilities. In strenght he matched A18 (the weakest android) in terms of power, but the unlimited stamina is a huge barrier to overcome. It's not only Trunks, but every single participant on that fight. One one hand, Trunks is the one that most convinced is that Vegeta can win (Ten was also pretty convinced as well), but when Piccolo corrects him he doesn't contradict Trunks in the fact that ssj Vegeta is actually matching A18 in power, he just observes that Vegeta is losing his stamina while the Android can always fight at max strength. On the other hand, A17 also says that since SSJ Vegeta is so strong, A18 won't be able to win if the other Z-fighters help him (of course, he's speaking of Vegeta when he's at his maximum strength). What's the evidence of the contrary according to you? I don't think I've missed anything that contradicts this! Regards.
