I watched the recent Lockstin & Gnoggin video explaining why a certain Pokemon is designed the way it is. I always liked these videos because they are not only educational but show how creative anime designers are when it comes to stuff like this. Well, half way through the video he started explaining something I find disturbing.
Apparently, these "spider" ball pythons are being bred more and more because of their "cool markings" but most of them end up being born with brain damage. This can be minimal (which is what snake "experts" who breed will show you) or quite severe. The more severe cases tend to be a 11 to 1 case scenario so for every 1 snake that has minimal issues, the rest have quite harsh damage.
He explains what happens to them and it is just so damn sad. I had no idea this was even a thing but it really makes me question people's reality and viewpoints on things. I am not okay with people breeding dogs that have breathing problems like Pugs but this is taking it to a whole new level. Like the one comment says, this is equivalent to breeding dogs blind because you think it is cute when they run into things.
This is animal abuse and should be stopped. I don't care if a snake is less intelligent than say a cat or a dog, it is still a living creature that feels pain. Some people can really do some crappy things to animals and it is sad nothing is being done about this.
