I watched this movie. I remember liking it for what it was. I was never a big Star Wars fan to begin with so I didn't understand the backlash of the film then or now. I thought the kid did a good job and he actually made the movie enjoyable. That being said, what happened to Jake is just sad man. The kid was teased his whole life because of this movie. He later developed schizophrenia, likely brought on by all the trauma of this crap, and has not been well since.



The video goes into more detail about it all. I really feel like child actors shouldn't even be a thing anymore. So many of them grow up to have issues mentally and emotionally, or end up drug addicts. Some do recover from this mess but many don't. A lot of them are adult actors now and hide the damage.

Yeah, it's really atrocious the way he was treated and how things went for him after Star Wars. I do completely agree that child actors should not be a thing, or at the very least their names should be excluded from credits to protect their identity so they have a small chance at normalcy (not among their regular circle of friends, obviously, but in the greater world) once they do grow up. It's so sad how many of them turn out to be drug or sex addicts, doing what they can to escape their past, it's almost as if being a child actor is worse than being a drug addict, because most of the time the two are not mutually exclusive. Hopefully one day he'll get a chance at some normalcy. Though some of his actions...

I thought people knew of this, but yeah it is fucked what happened to him and just shows that fandoms can be more toxic than anything else. Because the people who did are no different from the ones that made Hana Kimura kill herself. I could go into a full rant, but...ain't anybody reading about 7 paragraphs worth of ranting

Or people need to learn that the actor and the person aren't one in the same, and that actors are just normal people ( Yes, I know they make a bunch of money and all, but they were treated like they were normal most of them wouldn't have their nose far up in the air and such.)

Agreed, if they weren't idolized the way they are and put on such a high pedestal, they probably might end up on more even keel. Sadly, that's not the society we live in.
