Chi-Chi Convinced Goku to Marry Her Without Him Knowing What Marriage Was
Goku is not the sharpest tool in the shed. He had no clue what marriage was when he promised Chi-Chi he would marry her. In fact, he thought it was some sort of food. Knowing this, you would think Chi-Chi would explain it to him but I am not entirely sure she even knew what marriage was when she was a child. Goku agreed to marry her because he felt it was the right thing to do in his heart. Maybe that was just his inner-Saiyan telling him he needs to spread the seed? Prior to this, they didn’t really have much of a relationship. Nothing like him and Bulma. He always viewed Chi-Chi like a friend, not a partner, and still does… Yet she is okay with this.
Chi-Chi Doesn’t Care About Affection
It is no secret that Goku is not one for affection. He has never even kissed his wife! If he is grossed out by the thought of kissing his own wife, how then did they have two children? It really makes you think. I am not saying things were done without consent but I have a feeling food bribery was used! While affection isn’t needed for baby-making, it certainly makes the moment a lot more enjoyable. Knowing Chi-Chi doesn’t care about affection from her husband makes her seem rather cold, don’t you think? She even joked about her husband swapping with Bulma once. Maybe she has a thing for social status and wealth.
Chi-Chi’s Main Focus is Raising Offspring to Gain Wealth
While this is not as hard-hitting with Goten as she has certainly lightened up, Gohan took the book to the face with this one. Chi-Chi was on what seemed to be a never-ending battle to ensure Gohan becomes nothing like his father. Ouch! There is nothing wrong with wanting your children to succeed in life but she takes it a bit far at times. Goku’s main purpose appears to be providing money and sperm, and that is about it. While I am sure Chi-Chi does love and care about Goku, this succubus comes with terms and conditions!
Chi-Chi Values Money Over Goku Being Present
In Dragon Ball Super, Chi-Chi makes it clear where her heart is. She has Goku working a farm, something he does not enjoy, just to supply money to her. When Hercule gives him a ton of zeni he doesn’t want nor have any use for, he brings it back to Chi-Chi. She is so happy to have the money that she doesn’t even care if Goku goes off and trains. She even remarks to stop by every once and a while, as if it is for Goten’s sake and not her own.
Chi-Chi is a Control Freak
Chi-Chi has a bad reputation of trying to control everything she can, even her own father knows this! It was not enough for her to try to control Goku but she made sure to crack down even harder on Gohan. Since he was a child, he was a lot easier for her to mother-hen to hell and back out of the kid. Once he got older and had a child of his own, she even stepped on Videl’s toes trying to tell her what Pan should be when she grows up. Toxic much? Maybe Goku’s lack of fear in battle is enhanced by the thought of not wanting to go home to Chi-Chi. She is basically the Karen of the entire series.
