I saw a video on this by Muta (someordinarygamers) and it is an interesting conspiracy if you don't dig a bit or do some research.
So there was a post made on reddit under the conspiracy sub and the person points out that Wayfair is selling overpriced items under the titles of very strange names. On example was a throw pillow that was selling for something like $10,000. The name of this pillow was the same name as a young girl who went missing. There were other items like this, all matching missing children's names with weird descriptions. Some news sites were contacting Wayfair about the issue because it is quite the claim to be made. They have since gotten rid of these product listings and denied the claims.
Muta thought to go out and do a bit more research since not a lot of people think to check 4chan on topics like this.
Turns out, there is a post on 4chan about people there using the site to list overpriced clones of other items for sale on there and looking up missing children in different areas, using their names in the title of these products and sometimes the descriptions of these products as well. I get that people on this site like to troll people. They did it using the okay hand gesture and more recently, they tried targetting the LGBT group on Twitter for Pride Month.... But wtf? There is no motive for this I can find, they just wanted to make a site look bad.
Seeing this happen several times now over the last handful of years, knowing it is public knowledge that 4chan likes to make crap up and start stuff, I think that reporters need to do better research and check 4chan when stuff like this comes out of the woodwork. They aim to do stuff like this hoping the media will pick up on it, and they seem to have taken the bait.

Given what information is out there, it only seems logical that people on 4chan are behind this. BUT in the event they aren't behind it for whatever reason... Holy shit this would be bad.
