Dragon Ball Z What if Yajirobe never cut off Vegeta's tail?

I was thinking back and that was a critical point in the battle that essentially saved Goku's life but also allowed Gohan to look up at the power ball (blutz ball?) and transform himself. Let's say Yajirobe was too much of a coward to do anything. What do you think would have happened at this point? Would Vegeta have killed Goku? Would Gohan still been able to transform?... Maybe there would have been an ape vs ape battle?

I think it's entirely plausible that Vegeta could have won had he been left with his tail. I think Gohan still would have transformed somehow, getting a clear view of the moon while Vegeta is raging, and then we could've had a nice big ape fight, which would have been fun.

Given how common and popular kaiju battles are in Japan, it was a missed opportunity.

Something that has never happened in all of Dragon Ball. Two Oozaru fighting one another is a great missed opportunity to pay homage to kaiju battles.

They very well could still do it if SS4 becomes a thing. But that depends on how they write the transformation. Both Goku and Vegeta could wish their tails back and then battle as the giant apes. That would be awesome to see.

The writing staff are cowards and they're not going to strip them of their god ki. Only I had big enough balls to do it! Suck it Toei!

They do or at least did have a chance. I mean I don't know where the story is with Moro at this point but I know they weren't able to power up at some point. I mean really, it would open up a whole new market for toys and merch beyond what they have right now because the younger fans would be introduced to SS4 properly. And like I mentioned in that other thread, don't make it SS4 make it its own thing outside of it. Give them something new to achieve.

What you're referring to went nowhere and it was a great missed opportunity.

I feel like, to let something like this slip, a perfect opportunity, something has to give....

If only because you can't just keep stacking up powerful enemies to match the heroes. Something had got to give at some point. Unless they're going to copy me and make an Angel break bad. I feel a nerf is in order.

They need a reset button of some sort. Goku gaining god level was a mistake. Had the blue come first and this was waaaayyy down the road, sure but the order makes no sense.

Vegeta would still have his uh...manhood?

Maybe Super Saiyan 4 would have happened earlier.

Vegeta: "AHAHAHA! I reached a new level of power, Kakarot! And you can't because you lost your tail!"

*King Kai pulls out a new tail for Goku with pliers*

Vegeta: "Blast you, Kakarot!"

Interesting question, I'm not sure myself if Gohan would have turned into the great ape in time, if you recall that Goku had to give Gohan telepathic guidance to stare at the bright ball of light in the sky. Gohan himself was too exhausted to even have such a thought, and to even know what that would have led to. Vegeta quite likely would have won the fight at that point, he was too battled experienced to let the fight slip away at that point, if it was just him and Goku. Had Gohan turned though, the fight would not have entered any city, to be some Godzilla like massive kaiju showdown, as Goku deliberately chose the battle ground where he would face Vegeta, that was about as far away from causing any collateral damage as possible.

Yeah, it would have been unlikely they ended up in a town or much less a city. You are right on that but I do think the scene could have been written in a way to have allowed Gohan to look up. It happened so fast that I don't even think Goku was understanding what was going on. He didn't know he killed his own "grandfather" for the longest time.

I guess there would have been some way to show Gohan looking up at the light and then turn.
