When Goku first dies in DBZ, he is left with some blood and a huge hole through the middle of his chest.
I noticed in DBZ Kai, this is done over and removed to only show what appears to be a scuff or bruise. I am not sure why.

Did they change it to make it more kid friendly? I feel like moments like these showcase the true power of their fighters and for Goku to be killed by a scuff/bruise mark is kind of ridiculous. The lines and coloration look better as you'd expect but I am not a fan of taking things like this out.

Kai censored out a lot of stuff, not just this. I would have to rewatch it all to see everything they censored, but I don't want to do that.

I am guessing this was to make it more kid friendly. Thinking back at the airing times, DBZ was always on around midnight and Kai was after school hours.
