Why can some objects be called "sexy" and others not?

I never noticed how weird it is when a person calls a car "sexy" until I realized they are talking about metal sitting on rubber and some guys really get into the whole "damn, that is a SEXAY car!". Like I get that certain shapes are appealing to the eye and the right trim and detailing can make a car look appealing.. but sexy?? You don't hear someone going "Oh I need a new bed set, wow this one looks super sexy hun let's buy it!" or "Man, I sure can go for a super sexy burger right now!"...

Maybe I am the weird one? lol

I'll answer the car part with a quote from That 70's Show -- "We can't compete with a bunch of cars, dear. You see, wheels are like bosoms to men, and a car has four."

Not wrong. Cars are designed in a way that emulates the female form -- large, curvy bodies, big aggressive engines that make lots of noise, and a capacious rear end...while some guys might take it too far (looking at you -- https://www.neatorama.com/images/2012-02/strange-addiction-love-car.jpg), most appreciate the aesthetics of it, at least, and yes, they are designed to appeal to the same sensibilities that attracts a man to a woman. Granted, there are more and more cars being designed to appeal to women, as well, but I don't know that it'll ever reach "my god, that car is sexy!" levels with women, because...well...outside of a few hardcore motorheads, the vast majority of women aren't really into cars.

As for other objects being classified as sexy, well...that's going to depend on the person. Typically there's something about it that appeals to the same sensibilities as their attractions, but it comes down to personal tastes and preferences. Some people actually do say burgers are sexy, for instance...I've heard it...

I think women tend to find the one "controlling" the attractive car to be an appealing aspect. Or at the very least, they value to the value of said object because the owner has "power" in money.

Pretty accurate, women do tend to view potential partners based on their ability to provide, so makes sense that "nice car" means "nice partner." Not really the reality of the situation, since a lot of guys that drive nice cars are actually total pricks, but...yeah...

Well, playing on those sense to get their attention is one thing, but having an unnatural attraction to an object is entirely different. How people reach that stage, I've no idea, but there's also no question it happens. Sex toys notwithstanding, because those are designed to provide sexual gratification, an object shouldn't really reach the level of attraction that some take it to.

You can be a good provider and a terrible partner. Tends to happen when men get too rich because their job takes up 90% of their life, even if they are otherwise nice guys.

Agreed, completely. The more money a guy earns, the more fragile he seems to become, the greater his fear of failure or perceived inadequacy becomes, and the more of a douchebag he turns into. It goes both way, some women lose themselves with success, too, though usually not quite as frequently as it happens w/ men.

...fences...that's a unique one. Maybe ties into a childhood fascination with whole white picket fence romanticized thing from movies? I don't know, that's a really strange one...

Usually, women who are highly successful have trouble finding partners because they need them to match their level of success or be more successful. Even if they don't believe this to be true, they struggle more than wealthy men at finding and keeping relationships.

Makes sense, for sure. Women want a partner in the true sense of the word, so if the guy is a layabout or not as successful, she could feel like he's just a clinger-on, and that's obviously not going to work well in a relationship context. Builds resentment, lack of trust, etc. If the guy earns the same or more than her, he's an equal, motivated and participating part of their mutual partnership.

...oh dear...now the brain's gone into territories that I never dreamed possible...first thought legitimately was "well, I guess the pillows are his form of boobs...does he pillow-fuck the couch?" My brain...it hates me sometimes...
