I like it and have no issue with it. It was best demonstrated through Gohan.
SS2 as a whole isn't bad just kind of hate the aesthetic of it, though not like 3. I always thought each level of Super Saiyan should look different and not just you know...more hair or Aura color change. That is one of the main reasons I like SS 4 because it is has a look and you know it.
The lightning effect is cool. Other than that it's a Super Saiyan with less bang. It's used to be the peak of SSJ until Akira introduced SSJ3, SSJ4.
Super Saiyan 2 Gohan is my most favourite part of the whole series; the whole thing just seemed like the perfection of everything that had been previously wrong with Super Saiyan. And the electricity sparks are a nice touch.
Gohan's final good moment in the series. Such a shame how far downhill he went from there. I mean he was good in Bojack Unbound and the second Broly movie, but...yeah...
I thought his 15 minutes as Ultimate Gohan was pretty awesome. And I was also a fan of the soundtrack they used in the dub for those scenes (or, come to think of it, any Gohan kicking-ass scene in the series). But yeah, he's definitely been treated poorly ever since the Cell Saga. I was hoping after TOP he might retain some relevance, but it's very obvious they're still sidelining anyone who isn't named Goku or Vegeta.
So sad, but oh so very true. He has potential, he could be something useful to the series, but no, he's just nerdy Gohan, and that means they're probably going to waste Pan, as well. Such a shame, because Pan would be an epic female presence if they would just let her be.
To be honest, with the exception of Gohan in the Cell Saga, I can't usually tell when someone's using SSJ2 or standard SSJ unless someone says it. With Gohan initially, they made sure that his only his hair colour changed with SSJ so that when he went SSJ2 in Cell, it was a pronounced and noticeable change. But after that, I mean, I guess it's cooler than SSJ since sparks of lightning come off them, but it's barely a transformation. It's like SSJ with an instagram filter on it. Yeah, it might look better, but does it really doesn't really change how you look, does it?

Gohan's transformation to SS2 with Bruce Faulconer music is one of the coolest things I've ever watched in an anime, not just because it looked awesome but because it was a difficult milestone to achieve. I would have been content with Gohan being the only person capable of doing it because of his hidden potential ~ but that was immediately scratched in the Buu Saga..
I dunno, Falconer does make it amazing, but I think TFS made the best version, funilly enough
Yeah, if you ask me, Gohan going Super Saiyan 2 was just as cool as Goku going Super Saiyan.
