I don't know if you're making a serious comment about how it drives the plot, or if you're making a joke because it happens more often than it should.
Just a quick update to say I'm back and finished play-testing! There's some things I want to check, but I'm hoping to finish by the end of the month.

This didn't come out too badly. Fun fact: in the LOG series, Kami has no walking animation at all, and neither do any of the Namekians in LOG1. There's only one generic Namekian sprite in LOG2 (not counting Piccolo and Dende). They re-use Generic Namekian for Buu's Fury and make a fatter version of it for Moori (neither of which have walking animations).
It's hard to believe that in the manga the fights between Yajirobe, Cymbal, Tambourine and Piccolo all happen in the same place within - at most - a few hours. On the plus side, less maps I have to make!
Just finished the cutscene for King Piccolo's return. Not quite sure what the next few sequences will look like at this stage.
Apparently there's wayyyyy less to the King Piccolo Saga than I initially thought. I'm somehow already up to the final fight.

Yeah. Still tossing up whether or not I should add the fever dream vision quest Korin made Goku do. As it is, the whole sequence from where Goku meets Yajirobe to getting killed by Piccolo to Roshi getting killed by Piccolo is essentially one really big cutscene with a few battles.
I might just release as is and when v1.0 rolls around I'll consider adding some of the additional filler.
