I think it's a new release. It's reasonably compelling.

Finished watching Loudermilk. Apart from one or two episodes where I assume they were just obligated to preach Leftist talking points (as many shows are wont), it was actually pretty solid.
Just finished Monster Rancher, after almost 25 years of being woefully curious about it having only seen the final episode of the first season.
It was... interesting. It suffers a lot from mid-90s anime writing and stylistic choices. If made even a few years later, I think it could have been Digimon-level. There's a lot of potential there.
It also suffers from the classic Isekai trope of the MC having very little reason to be in the real world when getting sent back. He never seems to miss his actual friends or family, especially compared to the Monster Rancher friends - there's an off-hand comment about his mother being mad that he lost his inline skates when he goes back the first time (midway through the series, he returns to the real world for a year).
Apparently the dub also cut the epilogue where apparently the MC learns to travel between the real world and Monster Rancher world whenever he likes, and just leaves it on "everyone lived happily ever after" with no actual resolution to that plot-point. Apparently the monsters also travel to the real world too, and can be seen by kids but not adults.
The dub is fun, if for nothing else, featuring all our favourite VAs from Ocean's DBZ run. Too bad no one ever asked Tiger about anyone's power level.
I don't know if I'll ever come back to this. Maybe if I'm looking for a nice kid-friendly show for my own kids to watch. It was an otherwise interesting ride.
If anyone wants to try it, I recommend stopping at Episode 48, which is where the first arc ends (unless you get overly invested).

Granted that fight was gross but the payoff (kuririn winning by having no nose was Amazing!)
