Kazuhiko Torishima made a number of comments in the interview below.

“Toyotarou and Shibata, are bad at manga. The basics aren’t up to par.

“The people in charge of editing these manga don’t understand why the pieces are divided, how the eyes are guided, how the angles are handled in the information spread, and so they can’t check it. Once it’s finished and the pictures are in, they think it’s a manga.”

“It would have been better to do a Vegeta story than Dragon Ball Super“ and “Dragon Ball Daima is a shitty anime”

You mean Toryiama didn't like Kazuhiko? I am not up on all the names or involvement with the behind the scenes stuff from back then so I am not sure.
 
To be fair, if it is the Cell Saga editor, he technically did come up with most of the Cell Saga, and outside of the timeline plotholes it’s still one of the most well received Story Arc in the franchise as a whole.

He was the first editor for the run of most of Dragon Ball (before Z). Supposedly he was inspiration for King Piccolo and a Dr Slump villain.

Yu Kondo was the guy who took over who is responsible for being Toriyama's editor for all of Z through to Cell.

And as an aside to that, I really want to see notes or something for Toriyama's original vision for the Androids.

The only input torishima had (while no longer editor) was immeadiazly saying android 19 and 20 were "a geezer and a fatso and therfor lame" and afterward complaining about 17, 16 and 18 for being "teens"

Which then lead to cell who in the manga is really boring post first form!

We wouldve certainly still gotten gohan taking over as lead tho as that was set up during all of z!

Goku and Vegeta got too popular at that point. Gohan was popular coming off the Cell Games but people seemed to pivot back to Goku and/or Vegeta fairly quickly during the Buu stuff.
 
On a side note, if they continue down the path of the anime story being separate from the manga story, would you guys want to see a Vegeta centered story? I think I would. Seems like a lot of people would love this from what I have seen.
 
Vegeta got a lot of development and shine in Moro, even if he didn't take the W.

It's always Goku's story, and I don't know if Dragon Ball still works if it's not. The Buu Saga was a huge mess and even Super Hero didn't quite hit.

Imo gohan doesnt hve to replace goku just do more side stories like superhero!

Oh how about a yamcha and krillin or a tenshinhan and chaozu movie?

Would have made more sense to do that in the '90s. I mean they could always go back and add new stories if they do it right.

“Instead of making Dragon Ball Super, they should make a Vegeta story, instead they make crap like Daima, everyone would watch a Vegeta story, it would be a hit.”

Basically Torishima is calling Daima crap in comparison to a hypothetical Vegeta story, not that he actually thinks Daima is crap.

It seems like most people enjoyed Daima but a story that focused on Vegeta would probably be better received by long-time fans.

Have yet to see Daima, but I do plan to; however, I'm not hyped for it.

But a story the revolves around Vegeta is something that I would love to see.

This is my opinion or an extreme hottake; I don't like Cell as a character or the arc and I would have rather seen Akira's vision for the Android arc. I am also glad Cell was not the final villain, Buu was a superior character and arc to finish with.

So I don't really care for Yu Kondo. Akira might have liked or respected him but I am not Akira
