Just finished. I technically have two post-game missions and a handful of side-quests (let alone Research and PokeDex) but I just can't be bothered since they're all a bit grindy.

I don't regret buying, it was a lot of fun, but definitely not as good as Arceus.

It seems like a lot people are saying it was "fine" but not as good as "____". Other people are saying it is the worst Pokemon game in the franchise.

I have a feeling most of those either haven't played or aren't active Pokemon players.

As a sequel spin-off to X/Y (12 years ago, 3DS), it's great. As a sequel to Arceus, it's fine. As a spin-off game on it's own, it's still great. The story could definitely use some tweaking, and some ideas could have been explored more thoroughly, but it's an enjoyable entry in the series.

I think part of the problem is it's getting compared to Digimon Time Stranger (released two weeks earlier) which honestly made huge technological leaps over its predecessor. And some of those criticisms are warranted, for sure.

The other part is a lot of people complaining about graphical issues, which sure, there's some gripes. But stylistically, Pokemon never has and never will be about that. If the story and gameplay are compelling enough, I will gladly play a game where half the screen just has "TEXTURE MISSING" printed all over.

Its not really great compared to x and y
Good maybe (i havent played it) luminose city had like 30 unique shops yet from what ive heard this game lets you barely enter any buildings nor lets you explore outside the city!

So like X and Y still offers so much that za doesnt so calling it great is a bit to much

I didn't say it was great compared to them, I said it was great as a sequel in terms of adding to the story.

Also if you're going with "from what I've heard" rather than watching/playing for yourself, I don't think this is an entirely valid standpoint since you're going off hearsay rather than actually experiencing it yourself to form an opinion.

It's like if I said Dragon Ball Super wasn't as good as DBZ (which it isn't) without having watched it.

It was the first Ron Gilbert point-and-click made after like 2 decades. I think it's meant to parody Twin Peaks
I never watched that but a lot of people have said it was good.

I never got into point and click games either but after watching a streamer play Kyrandia, I am shocked I never took interest in them.

Yeah I never watched it either. I saw a parody episode on Psych, but that's about it.

Definitely check out Monkey Island, if nothing else. Those are the best.

If you play King's Quest... play King's Quest 7 first. It's definitely the best.
