Honestly, every time I see a post about the Japanese bullet trains I get so mad that:
- The Japanese were able to do this 60 years ago
- They built the first line within 5 years
- Construction began not even 15 years after having two whole cities razed and major losses in the war

Meanwhile the trains in Australia barely work and the train from my large town to the city (2.5 hour drive), takes 4 hours and only runs twice a day (if you miss that one, you have to take a bus to a town 40 minutes away where the trains run multiple times a day).

I remember growing up hearing about bullet trains underground and elevated, trains over the ocean, under the ocean, etc. and none of it happened lol

Meanwhile the Japanese are building most of those all over the country :krillinpalm:

I was floating the thought that we could build an undersea train line to Tasmania, like between England and the mainland, and then learned a few things:
- The English channel tunnel is a lot shorter than I realised (50.46km)
- The longest one is the Seikan Tunnel (Hokkaido to Japan mainland) - 53.85km
- Tasmania to the Australian mainland is even longer than I realised (~245km)

Like, Australia has been talking about it for at least 25 years. The grand ambition is to do Brisbane to Melbourne (via Sydney and Canberra) which covers most of the East coast. They can barely agree on doing Central Coast to Sydney which is barely 100km.

Meanwhile Tokyo to Osaka - which again, is the first line they built over 60 years ago - is 500km.

Japan is just more motivated I guess lol

I have furniture coming today so I have to try and catch the guy delivering it so he puts all the boxes in the garage. This should be fun lol

Well, I got promoted at work. Should have got the other promotion back in July, but this one is just as good. Less work and less responsibilities. My recent team leader (the one who got the last promotion) said he was happy for me but pissed at me because he lost his work horse. A lot more driving involved, but me and the wife are now seriously debating moving.
