Maybe it is because I grew up watching the OG but I feel like SMC is too touched up and to overly done in some areas that make it seem silly.
I never read the manga but the newer one is apparently closer to that but the general liveliness feels like it was sucked from the anime.

You have to be careful when you're blending CG with traditional animation because it can look too gawdy and unrealistic. 90's anime just had this je ne sais quoi that we all loved.

I actually did want to watch it but the way the CG functions in the show just put me off completely. That and it doesn't have that same level of humor that essentially made the show for me in the first place.
 
I feel ya. Unfortunately finding the different seasons of Sailor Moon in print on DVD/Blu-ray now would be a daunting task. There's 5 different seasons instead of Crystal's different seasons all the way through. I was lucky to be able to find an unopened Dragon Ball complete series that wasn't boot leg. If you keep your eye open on Amazon and/or Ebay you might be able to build the entire series from the ground up.

I never watched much Sailor Moon when I was younger, but the newer stuff does seem more...I don't know, over done? Just too much shimmer and flash, and why the extra flourish on the skirt transformation? OG Sailor Moon goes into full schoolgirl outfit, but new Sailor Moon, let's focus on her wearing a leotard/bathing suit/maybe just a top and panties? and then *poof* a skirt appears! Seems like a needless addition of fanservice...but ok...outside of that, I can't really comment on anything because I'm not super familiar with Sailor Moon.

Eh, I may get around to it some time. I need to watch animes from 2007, and to be fair everyone is a nerd if they talk about anime and such

I'm going back to the 90's myself with UC timeline Gundam ex. 08th MS team and 0083, I just call her that to pick on her but the only anime she's ever sat down to watch has been Naruto. I'm thinking of trying Kill La Kill to get her involved.

I could talk about Gundam all day, lol, and those are some good ones. I use to have a lot of the figures/toys for those. As big of a weeb as I am, I have never watched Naruto, and Kill La Kill would be a good choice.
