66 year-old Mohammad Anwar, the sole wage earner for his family, was killed clinging for dear life to his car that a 15 year-old and her 13-year old friend stole as he was making a delivery. They took off down the street with Mr. Anwar clinging on to the side of his vehicle, trapped by the driver side door. The car was driven too fast and couldn't maneuver around a corner, resulting in a crash that rolled the car and sent Mr. Anwar flying from the vehicle. He died in hospital from his injuries while the two girls escaped relatively unharmed. The 13 year-old has yet to enter a plea in the case, but the 15 year-old has entered a plea of guilty to murder, and as a part of the agreement will not be charged with armed carjacking, robbery and aggravated reckless driving. As a result of her age, the 15 year-old (who has already been in trouble for carjacking) will only serve a maximum sentence of 6 years in a juvenile detention center for the murder of Mr. Anwar. Likewise, the 13 year-old, due to her age, can only serve a maximum of 8 years, or until they turn 21.

The family of Mr. Anwar, however, have been left without their sole provider, husband and father and while a GoFundMe was setup for the family, the senseless loss of life over a joyride for two moronic kids, who in turn will not face any genuine punishment for their actions, is somewhat disgraceful. Age aside, such a light sentence is something of a slap in the face to the victim's family as they now have to live without him forever.

I feel like I heard this story because but it happened a month or something ago. Must just be a similar story because I know it happened in the US.

If they are willing to do such a thing, they should be trialed as adults. This is unexceptable.

This story was everywhere when it first happened, but then of course the investigation had to take place, so it died off for a bit. Now it's back in the news again because of the plea deal and the ridiculous sentence. So it's definitely something that's hit the news before and drawn a lot of attention.

Agreed, should absolutely have been tried as adults. No question.

There are a lot of "kids" who are only kids in number. Like the way they act and what they do, they are fully aware of the situations they put themselves in and we are meant to feel sorry for them and give them lighter punishment? I don't get it. In some cases I understand but not this one. This makes no sense.

Completely agreed, especially considering one of the girls had already been in trouble for carjacking. The exact thing she did that killed someone this time. But she gets a plea deal, charged as a minor AND only serves until her 21st birthday.

Good chance she will come out get pregnant by some low-life, and end up back in prison before her child is 3 years old.

It's pretty obvious she didn't learn from her first joyride, so she did it again. Now she's killed someone and is getting a very light sentence. It seems painfully obvious she'll get out, do it again, and who knows who she'll hurt the next time, or how badly. It's insane that she's not even being ordered to attend counseling or something along those lines. Just stupidity that she's not charged as an adult. As for getting pregnant, well, she'd have to stay out of trouble long enough to find said low-life first.
