An inter-fictional game I came up with a couple years ago

I don't even remember how the game functioned, but it was similar to a Deckbuilder.

Each player had Honor and Infamy scores like in Elder Scrolls games. Players scores had to meet the cards requirements to recruit them. They also had to have the right amount of the right kind of power-source that that character needed. (Ki, Alter, Materia, Spirit, Mana, etc)

Sounds interesting. I never been huge into deck games.

I only played Magic like once or twice and I played the Pokemon card game growing up. Uno and poker doesn't count in this regard... lol

This is more like a "Deckbuilder" game, which is a newer genre that doesn't involve player-built decks.

Everyone uses the one main deck and drafts cards from a line-up.
You start out with some basic "buying" cards to draft cheaper cards earlier.
You add the cards you draft to your starting deck and when you draft them, they can do any number of things, including help you draw more, help "buy" more expensive cards.

All Deckbuilder games are different when it comes to everything else, including how you win. The most note-able Deckbuilding games are DC Deckbuilder (Yes, the comics) and Ascension. You can get Ascension on Google Play or the Apple Store. DC Deckbuilder is pretty awesome and I'm not even a big DC fan myself. It's a breath of fresh air from games like Magic, Yugioh, and Pokemon.

Although, I'm also a long time Magic player, myself.
