Dragon Ball Z vs Dragon Ball Z Kai - Animation preference?

If we are leaving out the differences in voices, music, and overall story and only focusing on the animation style... Which do you honestly prefer?

From what I gather, most longtime fans prefer the original look of the animation (I do myself) over the updated animation in Kai. I think this comes down to the show just having that classic 80's animation look. The lines weren't perfect, nothing was over the top, and shadows weren't too dramatic. In Kai, the shadowing is heavier, the lines are cleaner, there was special effected added to powerups and moves, and the overall color changed quite a bit.

I like certain things about both art styles. I'm honestly not a fan of the glossy look that seems to be the current fad in animation these days. However, the newer one has better coloring and detail in many cases. Except in Kai...they don't do blood, which is stupid. The new art definitely seems more fine tuned, which makes me like it a little bit more. But I kind of like the old style too. I'm indecisive, I guess. haha

If not for the more obvious upgrade in quality when it comes to the Boo Arc in Kai, I would choose the original Z, considering the scenes in Kai were just edited from the original poorly. Since this isn't the case, I prefer Kai.

I gotta say...I kinda hate how in the newer animation style, they think everything has to look all smooth and wet...skin doesn't look like that IRL.

I got to say I think it's because they're trying to keep up with the times. one of the reasons why I had a harder time with the original dragon Ball was because the animation kind of hurt my eyes as an artist. Just my opinion. Had started on Kai 3 years ago.

TBH, I think they really hit a sweet spot with the new Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie.
