I wanted to make a separate thread for this instead of derailing @India Actual 's character art thread.

So I looked into the Wacom DTC133W0A One and while it has a lot of features, many are of little to no use for me. I just want something I can plug in and doodle with.

Now I am considering the 2020 HUION Kamvas 13.

The main reason is the price. I don't want to spend a lot on something I may not end up using often. If I find I am using it a lot and enjoying it, I can always upgrade to a better one as I get better with digital art. This one is currently $220 on amazon compared to the Wacom which is $400. I would have to get a USB C female to USB male adapter so I can just use one cord instead of all those other ones (assuming it would work) and make sure that Linux has drivers for it.

Are there any other ones under $400 worth looking at? I would like to spend less than $300 if possible.

I have a friend who works as a graphics designer for a large design firm, and he uses one of these:



Good price, decent features and reviews suggest it's halfway decent. Also seems to have a coupon applicable to save a decent bit of change!

Same company also makes a super budget tablet, but I'm guessing that's not quite what you're looking for:

Yeah, my Wacom now is better than that cheap one. I think it was $80 when I got it, screenless too. I want a screen one. That one seems nice but not likely to have Linux support. At least not that I can see.

It's pretty uncommon for companies not to have Linux drivers these days, fortunately, so most products will work with it. If not straight out of the box, then with a quick driver download .

It seems like bigger brands do, I never heard of this one but it seems to be a bigger brand so smart move by them to have drivers for this.

Yeah, Linux compatibility is growing among the bigger brands, which is awesome. The more Linux gains in popularity, the more brands will support it.

Who doesn't like Nathan's? Although Costco's all beef franks are equally as bomb and their Polish dogs.....it's a sin they took them off the food court menu.
