The FCC have issued the largest fine in the agency's history against a Texas-based telemarketing agency who made over 1 billion calls under the guise of selling health insurance in the names of some of the largest health insurance providers in the country. Acting Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel took a firm stand against Telemarketers and robocallers by imposing the $225million fine, first ordered by former FCC Chair Ajit Pai, against the company who posed as agents for Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and UnitedHealth Group, while not actually being backed by any of them. The agency also issued six cease and desist orders to voice providers who have repeatedly violated the FCC guidelines on robocallers and telemarketing practices and has established a Robocall Response team in order to properly deal with robocall scams in the future.
Yay, now hopefully we get less of this crap!
