Video Games Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

QA is gonna have a hard time. If I'm your boss, I'm yelling at you.

I mean, crashes in a small environment such as Moogle's House...? Someone didn't do their QA job.

Well... random crashes everywhere, mostly trying to swap environments.

Small environments aren't necessarily the issue, it's largely to do with what the game engine is doing with assets and memory locations. It can happen anywhere. It probably doesn't necessarily have anything to do with sizes.

But yes, go yell at them. :)

Rebirth is literally Unreal Engine 4. They're used to it. PS5 runs pretty well. I beat the whole game.

Junon area is definitely crashing more than any other. Really hoping they patch this soon (preferably tonight since I still have a day off tomorrow...)

I have a question? Is your storage an SSD?
Yes; and an NVMe. My computer is not underspec. Furthermore an SSD isn't a hard-requirement - the OS and the game have no real idea what storage device you're using. It just means things can take forever to load (but never not at all).

Usually a game that is designed originally as a PS5 game requires an SSD. Rebirth may not require an SSD, but all the textures are loading in everything. Its a huge game.

I understand that (it is literally my job to understand how computer systems and applications work). The issue isn't that stuff is slow to load, it's just that at certain stages it randomly gives up loading altogether and the game has to be killed. Many people on Reddit seem to be having this issue intermittently.

I was just gonna edit my post. I was trying to do a process of elimination. So if the SSD wasn't the issue, what was? Sigh. This was poorly optimized. I don't know how this escaped QA.

Probably just memory leaks. Crap like this happens a lot with ports.

The Spider-Man PC port had one weird issue where in one of the DLCs it would just drop to a really low framerate in one specific part of New York that was completely fine in every other DLC and the main game.
