The thing I always ask people like this is if we are being lied to who benefits from the lie, and no one can give me a firm answer to this. There is no benefit for anyone when it comes to lying about it.

People bring this up and say NASA benefits from lying but no one can tell me how they benefit.

You can use this on most conspiracy theories. Just ask who benefits from it and how they benefit.

tbf, it could be beneficial from a financial point. It's how people instantly get grants if they add "as it relates to climate change" on the end.

Just to be 100% clear, I am not a flat-earther.
