That's getting close to my annual salary. Definitely more than I get after tax (you guys think the tax rates there can be bad).Seriously though... $40,000 FOR FURNATURE. EACH. YEAR. And they increase this based on inflation. WTF!!!
The politicians may as well be. They both have been screwing over the people they claim to help. Two wings, same bird. We need better people to vote for.
Republicans and Democrats are the same thing, I agree. But neither of them stand for conservatism or liberalism is what I mean to say.
It's why I'm a conservative but registered as an independent. The Republican party has no spine and they do a lot of the same things while talking out of the other side of their face. We need truly conservative representation that is going to protect ALL Constitutional rights and down-size the hell out of the federal gov't. The power needs to return to the states.
Eh... yes and no. Most Democrats tend to be further Left with more radical ideas (eg AOC) and I think there are a couple of decent Republicans (Ted Cruz, Rand Paul) who seem to be trying to do something.
That's a discussion I had with someone a few weeks back. I think they're way overpaid and have too much power. I think term limits with a reasonable salary (to at least make it enticing enough to run in the first place) would be a good start.
Gov't spending needs to be reallocated from special interests and padding the legislative to things that really matter like the DoD and DHS. I think we can all agree we want the strongest military on the face of the Earth and to protect our borders. Everything else can take a back seat in descending order from there.
