For as many fans of Goku I have found, there have been just as many fans of Vegeta. These two are the most popular faces and characters in the entire franchise. While Goku is still the main face of Dragon Ball, Vegeta sits at the top as his equal in terms of fans and overall character enjoyment.

When it comes to comparing them both side by side, who would you say is the better:

Goku Duh.

He 110% also there to save the Earth from the end of Dragonball to Dragonball Z. Vegeta was one a villain who try take blow up the earth. Goku was a better Leader as he took down most of the villain. A True Ally. As he the The Hope Of The Universe. And he an ok father. Not a great father but he not bad father either like people said he is. But when you saving the world and training all the time that going to happen. Also Goku is the MAIN MAN OF THE SHOW!

So for me, it is Vegeta. I do like Goku but Vegeta's personality, background, and everything about his growth has just be far more interesting.

I think Vegeta and Goku can be tied for leader.

I picked Vegeta as well though. When you look on growth throughout the series, Vegeta has overcome so much on a personal level. Goku hasn't changed much.
 
Fighter - Goku. Vegeta even admitted inferiority to him during the Kid Boo fight.
Husband/Father - Goku. Leaving your family behind to train the world's next guardian (Oob) is far better than almost killing them like Majin Vegeta did during the 25th Budokai.
Ally - Goku. Vegeta killed one of his Saibaman and even killed Nappa.
Friend - Goku. He was enraged when Freeza killed Piccolo and bloodlusted when Freeza killed Krillin. Vegeta doesn't care about anyone except Trunks, Bulma, and Goku, as suggested during his sacrifice against Fat Boo. Even then, he only put his life on the line when Trunks was about to die, and when he was Majin and hit rock bottom.
Leader - Goku. When everyone is in danger, they always count on Goku to come to the battlefield to save them all. Meanwhile, Vegeta is considered untrustworthy even during the Boo Saga.

Overall - Goku.

I think it is more a less down to his innocence having a child-like mind crossing with his Saiyan instincts. He has his moments but overall seems to struggle with accepting responsibility. Most of the conflict in the entire anime is down to his carelessness. He is actually more of a villain when you think about it lol

I definitely consider Vegeta to be the better character but going by those categories, Goku's definitely the winner. I do think Vegeta's a better family man though, but everything else is Goku.

First I did not know why people's opinion are being entertained here They are such liars and frauds. in dbs super episode 62 when Bulma told Goten and Trunks that Goku can defeat Goku black didn't it irritate Vegeta? If he loves his wife why will he do that? Vegeta changed to good because of Goku. I cannot believe why these opinions are being posted here also.
