Hi guys. Joined the forum today. I was just wondering how everyone got into the franchise? I'm presuming the majority of you have been fans since childhood. I watched it a little bit as a kid ut never much, i've actually just turned twenty and discovered Dragonball again through Dokkan Blast, after being absorbed by the world I watched the netflix movies (Battle of Gods and Resurrection F) and became obsessed. I've since watched the original Z, some Z kai, most the movies, a lot of super and started reading the mangas. Much to my girlfriends annoyance i'm obsessed. Was just wondering if anyone shared a more unconventional journey into the world of the z fighters.

I started watching in the late 90's/early 2000's when I was in high school. It was on Toonami after school and it instantly clicked with me. Once the last season of DBZ ended, I started watching Dragon Ball and then moved onto GT (which was terrible). Just kept going from there. I own all the movies, all seasons of Dragon Ball, and all seasons of Dragon Ball Z. Never really liked Kai because they toned it down and removed blood.

Been a fan since 1999, so 20 years. I got into Dragon Ball Z around the time I was losing interest in Pokemon. It was thanks to Toonami for me as well. I got into other anime thanks to Toonami too. I actually watched all of Dragon Ball Z several times (as well as most of the movies) but didn't watch Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball GT until just a few years ago. After years not watching the show or paying attention to the franchise, I think it really rekindled my love for the show and it ultimately lead me to opening the forum.

The Ocean group dub around 1996. I bought quite a few of the VHS releases from Funimation in the late 90’s. I still remember being pumped to see Future Trunks for the first time.

Started watching it circa early-mid 2000's since I had access to French channels(Who btw were the first to dub Dragon Ball.) and the rest is history. I still remember the first fight that I saw was Vegeta vs Cell

In my country it was a total hit, with TV rating of above 50% at its prime days. We kids stopped fighting like pussies and started doing it like in Dragon Ball XD

That was at the beginning of the 90s, and I remember being a fan since I was 5 or 6 years old (93 or 94). Since they were runing the series nonstop -they did it during 15 years, sometimes with multiple timeslots (once they finished with the last chapters they had, they started again from the beginning)- I think the first cut I saw was at the end of the Namek saga (at that point the series had already been runing for years in my country).
I also was a fan of the manga (I started buying it when i was 7-8) and I liked it a lot, though at that point I always considered the anime to be the real and "more expanded" version of the story even if it sometimes made some strange things I had to pour a lot of headcanon to make any sense of (how was Pai-Quan able to defeat Cell & Freeza so easily and then Goku fights him without even SSJ WTF? That may be because in hell they're restricted I told to myself XD).

All in all, very good times!
